SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Archaeological digs, scavenger hunts, pottery and clay sculpting, jewelry making and puzzles are just a sampling of the fun activities fifth- and sixth-grade children will enjoy during the annual Egyptian Art Workshop for Kids at Cal State San Bernardino.
Scheduled for July 27-30, the workshop will run in two sessions, from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and from 3-6 p.m.
Children ages 11-13 will be hosted by the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum at Cal State San Bernardino's Visual Arts Center . The cost is $60 for general workshop admission or $50 for discounted admission to CSUSB Alumni Association and Friends of the Museum members. The price includes snacks and drinks.
During their day, students will be given workbooks, go on a mock archeological dig, make art, learn about Egyptian culture and history and will have a chance to win prizes, while enjoying the best permanent display of ancient Egyptian antiquities on the West Coast.
Billie Sessions and Keith Brockie from the CSUSB art department will run the workshop; the museum staff and docents will give mini lectures, demonstrations, and museum mini tours.
To register, obtain the registration form from the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum Web site at http://rvf-artmuseum.csusb.edu . Children may be registered right up to the day the workshop opens on July 27 as long as space is available. |
