'ECLECTICA' SHOW A STOREHOUSE OF MENTAL IMAGES

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Art can be the fruit of one's imagination or the inspiration of one's everyday experience, but in the case of artist Jiong Li , art is the intersection of both.

Li's "Eclectica" will be on display at Cal State San Bernardino's Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum Jan. 31-May 9. A reception for the show will be held Jan. 31 from 5-7 p.m. with a preview for Friends of the Museum at 4:30 p.m.

"The human condition is my perennial source of inspiration," explains Li, who draws on ordinary life experiences to inspire his artwork. "I take snapshots of my mind, and store them in my paintings."

Li has more than 10 years of professional design experience, including Web design, animation, graphic design and illustration. He received his M.F,A. from Utah State University and is currently an assistant professor of art at Cal State San Bernardino.

In addition to having his work featured in exhibitions around the world, Li has been published in several books and design Web sites, including "Visual Design Fundamentals and Web Design Index."

Established in 1996, CSUSB's Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum has accumulated a permanent collection of nearly 1,200 objects focusing on Egyptian antiquities, ceramics and contemporary art. With more than 7,500 square feet of gallery space, the RVF Art Museum magnificently displays a wide variety of art work from its permanent holdings to a dynamic schedule of visiting exhibitions.

Last year, the Fullerton Art Museum gained the highest national recognition a museum can receive - accreditation from the American Association of Museums. With that, it joins only 4 percent of the nation's museums accredited by AAM.

Through Feb. 15 - the duration of the "Excavating Egypt" exhibit - the RVF Art Museum will charge a $5 admission fee for all shows. Senior citizens and students are $3 and all CSUSB students, faculty and staff and children under the age of 6 are free. Parking is $5 per vehicle.

Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday. Phone: (909) 537-7373.
