MAYOR TO HOST MAY 6 RECEPTION RECOGNIZING CSUSB’S ROBERT V. FULLERTON ART MUSEUM ACCREDITATION
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Mayor Patrick J. Morris will host a VIP reception on Tuesday
May 6 at Cal State San Bernardino’s Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum in honor of the
museum’s recent accreditation by the American Association of Museums.
Of the nation’s nearly 17,500 museums, only 775 (just 4 percent) have received the honor
of accreditation from AAM. In California, approximately 60 museums are accredited. The
Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum is the only art museum in the city of San Bernardino and
one of only two accredited museums in San Bernardino County.
“This is the highest national recognition a museum can achieve,” said Morris. “The City of
San Bernardino is proud to host this fine museum within its boundaries.”
The reception, which is by invitation only, is the first of many events, as the museum
celebrates the recognition and distinction that come with accreditation. Celebratory events
are planned for the next six months, with a grand public celebration scheduled for Oct. 4.
The Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum is home to the largest display of ancient Egyptian
antiquities west of the Mississippi River. Established in 1996, the RVF Art Museum has
accumulated a collection of nearly 1,200 objects focusing on Egyptian antiquities, ceramics
and contemporary art.
Admission for exhibits at the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum is free. Hours are Tuesday,
Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7
p.m. The museum is closed Sunday and Monday. Parking at the university is $4 per
vehicle.
