KIDS CAN TRAVEL BACK IN TIME TO ANCIENT EGYPT THIS SUMMER

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Remember childhood when your imagination could take you to the moon and back? This summer two groups of elementary school children will use their imaginations to travel back in time to ancient Egypt, where Pharaohs were kings of the earth and gods ruled everything from here to the afterlife.

The annual Summer Egyptian Art Workshop for Kids will be held Aug. 13-16 in the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum at Cal State San Bernardino. Two sessions will be held -- one in the morning and the other in the afternoon to accommodate children on a summer school schedule.

Cost for the workshop is $50 regular admission and $40 for Friends of the Museum, Members of the CSUSB Alumni Association, and CSUSB Faculty and Staff. Space is limited; please contact the museum for availability and registration.

During the workshop children are provided a wonderful opportunity to learn about ancient Egyptian art, culture and history. The week-long workshop encompasses a hands-on experience by sculpting clay into Egyptian style jewelry, pottery and figures. Children, ages 11-12, enjoy special tours of the museum, playing games and listening to fascinating stories about great archaeological discoveries in Egypt.

The Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum is the finest public display of ancient Egyptian art on the west coast and the perfect compliment to the lessons kids are learning in their elementary schools. The workshop will be presented by Wilona ‘Billie’ Sessions, professor of art education at CSUSB.

For more information on session hours and workshop costs please contact Tiffany Talavera at (909) 537-3374 or e-mail ttalaver@csusb.edu.
