SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - One will draw, the other will paint; one will sculpt and the other mold, but all use their hands to create what it was that first inspired them.
On June 14, Cal State San Bernardino student artists will display their works at the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum, commencing the 37th Annual Student Art Exhibition. The show features work in painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, glass, ceramics, wood and furniture design, graphic design and new genres.
The show is an “exhibition of contemporary work done by emerging and talented artists with young and fresh ideas that will shape the future of art, and to come see this is a wonderful opportunity,” says Sant Khalsa, chair of the art department at Cal State San Bernardino. The annual art exhibition allows students the opportunity to showcase their talents in a professional setting. From painting to sculpture to glass, the pieces undergo a careful selection process for display in the show. This year will be the second year ever to have the pieces juried by an outside juror.
Several students will be awarded during the opening reception. Among the awards given is a $500 Friends of the Museum Award and a President’s Purchase Award, in which CSUSB President Albert Karnig personally selects a piece to purchase and display in his office.
The 37th Annual Student Art Exhibition will run from June 14 until July 28, with an opening reception on June 14 from 4:30 - 7 p.m. A preview for Friends of the Museum will be held at 4 p.m. in the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum.
